2.2 Introduction to Experience Designer

Experience Designer is a powerful, low code, graphical development tool for building voice and chatbot-powered virtual assistants. It defines the voice application experience for your app through a flow that you create with nodes.

You can access the Experience Designer by first clicking on a project on your Homepage.

Once inside a project, you will see a side menu of the left. Click Develop, then you will see the Experience Designer.

The Experience Designer main screen is comprised of three sections (see layout image below):

  • Node palette

Nodes are organized by drop-down tabs and searchable by typing in the “filter nodes” section. For more information about a node, click on it and a description will appear in the Help and Debug pane.

  • Main canvas

Drag and drop nodes to the main canvas to define and connect them in a flow.

  • Help and Debug

Contextual help displays based on your activity. For example, clicking on the Launch node displays its help text. You can also debug issues that arise in this panel.

Double-click on a node to define the parameters of the node. For example, when you double click on the Launch node, the Edit Launch node screen appears.

After you edit a node, a blue dot indicates that the node was modified but not deployed.

The Deploy button activates when you have changes that are available to deploy. By deploying, you are also saving the changes you have made.

You connect nodes by clicking and dragging a connection line from the gray connector dot at the end of a node to another gray connector dot of another node. As the following image shows, many nodes can connect to one node.
