Amazon image rules

  • Images may be in JPEG or PNG formats, with the appropriate file extensions. Only images in PNG format can be transparent, which provides a better visual experience. The judicious use of a transparent background makes your images appear to take on a wide range of shapes and sizes.

  • All sizes in pixels unless otherwise specified.

  • All templates use square or rectangular images in PNG and JPEG image formats. Note the aspect ratio for each template shown in the following table.

  • Provide several different image sizes because the device selects the smallest possible size that matches the desired aspect ratio and gives a clear image for the size of the screen where the image is being rendered. If you do not provide an image of the appropriate size, the next larger image size will be scaled down for use.

  • Images are compressed when sent and decompressed when received.

  • You must host the images at HTTPS URLs that are publicly accessible.

  • You should apply a 70% opacity black layer for background images, which provides optimal contrast between the image and text.

  • Background images with slight patterns or gradients are recommended to provide a consistent, high-quality appearance.
